Cloudy Ocean

Teaching, Training,
and Workshops

The bread and butter. Been at this for over ten years. Cute slides, engaging methods, probing questions, and deep listening. Trauma informed and responsive to group need. I've designed college level classes, taught fourth graders about their changing bodies, led poetry workshops in prison, and spoken with city commissioners about microaggressions. Hire me to fine tune your curriculum, develop your trainings,  navigate tricky topics, and say all the things you wish you could say. A few recent topics are (and are not limited to): Pluriversal Practice, White Supremacy Culture, Conflict Navigation and Accountability, Burnout and Nervous System Care, Abolition, Healing and Cultural Strategy. Let's explore where my expertise meets your needs.

Group Care and Facilitation

Groups require and deserve as much care as individuals do. Often, when they lose the plot or hit blocks, hasty solutions bury instead of address underlying dynamics. My depth psychology background, penchant for systems thinking, and attention to power dynamics inform my facilitation practice. I guide groups to pull threads from tangly situtions, see the forest while articulating root challenges, and get flowing in the direction of their goals - be it a new project, or a new vision. I have helped groups address power imbalances, navigate conflict, re-vision their programming, and hold them accountable to equity goals.

Consulting and Accompaniment

Need a third party thought parther? Help framing your programming or curriculum or newsletter in a justice or healing lens?  Someone who can break down all the psychology buzzwords you're hearing? I got you.  My breadth of professional and academic experience lends itself well to many of the tasks that lie just beyond the capacity of the group. I can help you think through complex problems, and translate abstract values into concrete actions. I'm a great helper, and a great listener. In the past I have assessed projects for LGBTQ inclusivity, added trauma-informed practices to curricula, built program infrastrucutre and procedures, and visioned cohort experiences and retreats.

A Bit About My Approach

Above are the primary services I provide. Often, a little bit of each is needed: training to provide new shared frameworks, consulting and facilitation to activate and integrate those new shared frameworks. Lets work together to understand your group's needs, and craft the right concoction of services. I'm also open to discussing work beyond these offerings as needed and on a case by case basis.

All of my work is informed by the following notions:

  • that groups form collective bodies

  • that groups and people are the experts on themselves

  • that conflict can be generative

  • that we are doing our best

  • and that the work (of justice, of healing, of transformation) did not start with us, and will not end with us.

My work is trauma informed, which means I assume trauma is a part of the story of every group - whether personal, collective, or otherwise - and take measures to make the room hospitable to how it might make itself known. Some of my lineages of theory and practice include (but aren't only) Black Feminism, movements for Abolition, Queer Liberation, and Healing Justice, Harm Reduction, Somatics, Decolonial Philosophy and Praxis, and Depth Psychology.
